This was the second website I ever designed and built. If you look at the source code you’ll see it was built using tables and HTML only. When I look back at this website I realize I was once really good at building HTML table layouts.

Melbourne Snorkelling Adventures provided snorkelling tours to popular beaches along Port Phillip Bay in Australia, which means the design needed to be both informative and fun. At the time, I chose a horizontally scrolling layout, designed for 800-pixel wide monitors. It not only fitted with the visual language of the service (the horizon, the ocean floor, and the beach all come to mind, and are all distinctly horizontal) but it was also an unconventional design at the time, which was more likely to engage the visitor and create a sense of “fun” by doing things differently. I also chose bright bold colors that fit within the nautical theme.
